HikeMF is an organization that sponsors a hike to raise funds for Myeloproliferative Neoplasms(MPN) research. MPNs are a group of rare blood cancers that include Essential Thrombocythemia (ET), Polycythemia Vera (PV) and Myelofibrosis (MF). There are limited research funds for MPNs. HikeMF was formed to be proactive and support organizations and researchers in their quest for a cure and viable treatments for MPNs.
THERE IS NO CURE!
HikeMF will be supporting the MPN Research Foundation and The Mullally Laboratory at Brigham and Women’s Hospital.
MPN Research Foundation is the only organization solely dedicated to MPN research.
“The mission of the MPN Research Foundation is to stimulate original research in pursuit of new treatments — and eventually a cure — for the blood cancers polycythemia vera, essential thrombocythemia and myelofibrosis, known collectively as myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPN).
Through a combination of MPN cancer research, advocacy and education, we bring together patients, researchers and clinicians around the common goal of realizing new treatment options and ultimately, a cure for MPNs.”
The Mullally Laboratory is based at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, with links to the Dana-Farber Cancer
Institute, Broad Institute, and Harvard Stem Cell Institute.
Dr. Ann Mullally is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and a physician-scientist at Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH) / Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI). Her laboratory studies the genetics, biology and therapy of myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPN) using MPN patient samples, mouse models and multiple different laboratory approaches. Dr. Mullally’s MPN research interests include myelofibrosis, the biology of mutant calreticulin (CALR) in MPN, JAK2V617F MPN stem cells, improving the efficacy of JAK2 inhibitors and familial forms of MPN. The overarching goal of the research in her laboratory is to advance the understanding of the biology of MPN and to translate this into improved treatment options for patients dealing with these diseases.
IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT WE FIND A CURE!
There are many inspirational people living with MPNs. Some are trailblazers who have entered a drug trial with the hope that it will be the cure or treatment desperately needed, some are out of hope and saying their goodbyes and some are in the watch and wait stage, with no treatments or trials available. All are hoping for a cure!
TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
In memory and in honor of all those affected by MPNs, we at HikeMF will continue hiking until a cure is found.
DON’T DELAY….DONATE TODAY!
All donations are tax-deductible. Thank you for your support in helping to advance MPN research.
With much appreciation and many thanks!
